Morocco and La Francophonie

Why is Morocco member of the International organization of Francophonie?

Morocco joined the OIF in 1981, as a full member, when the organization was still an agency specialized in cooperation and technical assistance. Morocco’s engagement was and is still mostly oriented towards reinforcing cooperation with African Countries and as such, the French language is an important tool that enables the Moroccan citizens to communicate with the African peoples. On a wider scale, Morocco shares the values of the Francophonie Organization that is bringing peoples closer through culture and acting positively towards political stability.
